Identifying ECU part numbers

There are a great many ECU versions from the factory. Each is often model specific (vs. engine specific) and can contain information specific not only to the drivetrain but the accessories and options installed in the vehicle.

To identify these part numbers, you must first remove the ECU from the vehicle.

Alternatively, these part numbers can also be obtained by scanning the ECUs, such as with the Ross-Tech scan tools we carry.

Once you have this part number, you can cross reference it via our online GIAC Chip catalogs in order to determine if we have a GIAC chip for your vehicle, or what the latest GIAC Chip part number may be for your vehicle.

Examples of the key part number information required for chipping are shown below.
